Important Travel Update: Cambodia’s New Techo International Airport Replaces Phnom Penh International Airport

Phnom Penh is about to welcome a brand-new gateway to the world. Techo International Airport (KTI) will officially open its door on 9 September 2025, marking a new era for Cambodia’s air travel.

After 66 years of service since 1959, Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH) in Pochentong will retire. Starting 9 September, all flight operations will be relocated to Techo International Airport, which will now serve as Cambodia’s primary airport.

Located in Krong Ta Khmau, Kandal Province, the airport sits about 26 kilometers from the riverside area, where you’ll find lively streets, cafés, and our very own Amanjaya Pancam Hotel.

The ride into the city usually takes about an hour without traffic, and luckily, there are several easy ways to get there. Here’s a handy guide to help you choose the option that fits your travel style.

Option 1: Airport Express Bus

Phnom Penh City Bus just announced on 6 September 2025 that starting 9 September onward, the Airport Express Bus will connect the city center and Techo International Airport.

Operating Hours: 5:30AM – 11:30PM

Bus Ticket: 1,500 Riels (~$0.37) One Way

Routes:
▸ City – Airport: Cannon Rifle Roundabout → Monivong Blvd → Morodok Techo Sky Bridge → Hun Sen Blvd (60m) → Techo International Airport
▸ Airport – City: Techo International Airport → Hun Sen Blvd (60m) → Morodok Techo Sky Bridge → Monivong Blvd → Cannon Rifle Roundabout

Bus Stops:
▸ Canadia Park (in front of Railway Station) – AEB01 / AEB02
▸ Royal University of Law and Economics – AEB03 / AEB04
▸ Bred Bank (Hun Sen Blvd) – AEB05 / AEB06
▸ AEON Mean Chey (AEON Mall 3) – AEB07 / AEB08

Option 2: Ride-Hailing Apps

Ride-hailing is one of the most convenient and less pricey ways (comparing to car rental) to reach the airport, especially if you’re traveling with luggage. Popular apps in Phnom Penh include Grab, Move, WowNow, and PassApp.

Estimated costs from Amanjaya Pancam Hotel (Riverside):
▸ Grab: ~63,000 Riels (US $15.75) for a standard car (up to 4 passengers)
▸ WowNow: ~30,000 Riels (US $7.50) for a tuktuk, or ~64,000 Riels (US $16) for an electric taxi

Option 3: Car Rental Service

For guests who prefer private transport, car rental counters are available at the Arrival Hall of Techo International Airport.

For guests staying at Amanjaya Pancam Suites Hotel, we can help make your arrival easier by arranging a pre-booked taxi from Techo International Airport. The rates are approximately $28 one way for a 4-seat car and $35 for a 7-seat car for trips before 10PM. For transfers after 10PM, an additional $10 surcharge per way applies.
